主讲人简介/Biography:

刘心元南方科技大学化学系教授、博士生导师,国家杰出青年基金获得者。2001年毕业于安徽师范大学;2004年安徽师范大学和上海有机所联合培养,获理学硕士学位;2005年在上海有机所从事研究助理;2010年毕业于香港大学,获哲学博士学位;2010年在香港大学和美国Scripps研究所从事博士后研究;2012年9月入职南方科技大学化学系,副教授、课题组长;2018年晋升为终身教授。2017年,获日本化学会杰出讲席奖,同年获国家自然科学基金优秀青年基金和教育部长江学者奖励计划-青年学者;2019年,获亚洲核心计划讲座奖和中美华人化学与化学生物学教授联合会杰出教授奖;2020年,获国家自然科学基金杰出青年基金。


Dr. Liu was born in Anhui, China. He obtained the B.S. degree from Anhui Normal University (AHNU) in 2001. After that, he continued his research experience in both Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), CAS and AHNU under the jointly supervision of Prof. Dr. Shizheng Zhu and Prof. Dr. Shaowu Wang and obtained his Master degree in 2004. After a one year's stint in Prof. Gang Zhao's laboratory in SIOC, he joined Prof. Dr. Chi-Ming Che's group in The University of Hong Kong and earned his Ph.D. degree in 2010. His Ph.D. research focused on organic catalysis and organometallic chemistry. He continued postdoctoral study in Prof. Che's group in the University of Hong Kong and in Prof. Dr. Carlos F. Barbas III's group in The Scripps Research Institute. At the end of 2012, he began his independent academic career in Southern University of Science and Technology of China. Dr. Liu's research interest is asymmetric radical reactions. Dr. Liu was promoted to tenured Full Professor of SUSTech at the beginning of 2018. His honors and awards include: Award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student (HKU, 2011), Peacock Rewarding Plan (Type B) (Shenzhen Municipal Government, 2013), SUSTech Outstanding Researcher Awards (SUSTech, 2016), Award for National Excellent Young Scholar (NSFC, 2017), The Distinguished Lectureship Award (Chemical Society of Japan, 2017), The Scholar Program-Youth Project (2018), CAPA Distinguished Faculty Award Chinese-American Chemistry & Chemical Biology Professors Association (2019), The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2020).

讲座摘要/Abstract:

不对称自由基催化化学作为催化化学的一个重要分支,是高效合成手性化合物的重要工具之一。刘心元教授围绕“不对称自由基催化化学”这一科学难题开展了深入系统的研究,提出了独具特色的“手性阴离子-金属单电子催化剂”新策略,发展了多样性的不对称自由基反应:通过发展Cu(I)/手性阴离子作为单电子转移催化剂,并使之与体系中原位产生的烷基自由基相互作用,生成Cu(III)配合物而后还原消除或单电子氧化产生碳正离子中间体,继而实现手性控制。本次讲座将我们将介绍使用了此策略的几种不同类型的不对称自由基反应,以及这些反应在合成中的应用。


Radical reactions have emerged as one of the most powerful tools for the construction of C-C and other bonds in synthesis. However, realizing the stereo-control of open-shell intermediates remains a formidable challenge owing to high reactivity of such free radical species. We accomplished radical-involved asymmetric chemistry by developing copper(I)/chiral anionic ligand as a novel SET catalyst: using of chiral reactive copper species, which interact with the generated alkyl radicals and undergo either formation of high-valent copper(III) specie or a single-electron oxidation process, results in a stereo-control induction. Different types of asymmetric radical reactions with this strategy and corresponding synthetic applications will be delivered in this talk.
