主讲嘉宾/Speaker:

Dr. Qiang Guo, Assistant Professor, School of Life Sciences, Peking University

Dr. Guo received his Bachelor of Science degree from Lanzhou University in 2009 and his Doctor degree from Tsinghua University in 2014. From 2014 to 2020, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry supported by Humboldt Foundation and EMBO. He joined the School of Life Sciences, PKU  in 2020. Dr. Guo’s lab focuses on the development and application of the state of the art in situ structural biology technology, which allows the study of protein function in their physiological cellular context and, via subtomogram averaging technique, at molecular resolution.


讲座摘要/Abstract:

Cryo-electron tomography (Cryo-ET) is a state-of-the-art technique that enables the study of protein function in their physiological cellular context, and can even provide molecular resolution via subtomogram averaging. Our research leverages this cutting-edge technology to investigate Cellular Architecture, examining how subcellular compartments contribute to the function of a cell, as well as Macromolecule Sociology, analyzing the relationships between macromolecules and organelles.

During this presentation, I will showcase several exciting applications of Cryo-ET and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this cutting-edge technique. Additionally, I will discuss our ongoing efforts to expand its applications.
