主讲人简介/Biography:

Donglin Han is a distinguished professor in the College of Energy, Soochow University. He is also a member of the editorial board of Acta Physico-Chimica Sinica. Han finished his bachelor and master education in Tsinghua University, and went to Kyoto University in 2008 with the financial support from the Japanese Government Scholarship. He obtained his PhD degree in 2011, and was promoted to an associate professor in 2015. He came back to China and joined the Soochow University in 2019. From 2008, Han focuses on the research of proton conducting solid oxides, and has published over 40 papers on this topic.

讲座摘要/Abstract:

Some solid oxides exhibit proton conducting behavior in humid atmosphere at intermediate temperature. The protons are generally introduced through a hydration reaction, which occurs based on the interaction between water molecules and oxide ion vacancies which form due to doping. Compared with the oxide ion conductors, the development of the proton conducting solid oxides are relatively late. However, due to their promising potential to be applied in intermediate fuel cells, electrolysis cells and chemical reactors, they are attracting increasing attention recent years. In this talk, the mechanism of the proton conduction in solid oxides will be explained. Then, the progress on revealing and improving the proton conducting properties of doped BaZrO3, which is currently the most attractive proton conductor, will be presented. Meanwhile, based on the personal interest, some examples of analyzing crystal structures of doped BaZrO3 with synchrotron radiation techniques will also be given.
