讲座主题/Title：Introduction to Dimitrov's recent resolution of the Schinzel-Zassenhaus conjecture

讲座摘要/Abstract:

We will present Dimitrov's recent elegant proof of the Schinzel-Zassenhaus conjecture, which asserts that a non-cyclotomic integer polynomial always has a root of "big" modulus. One of the key ingredients in his proof is the using of a classical theorem of Polya on transfinite diameter. We will give a brief introduction to this theory.

讲座摘要/Abstract:

As a continuation of our talk, we show a weak result of Delsinne on Lehmer's problem in the higher dimension. This transcendental method has three steps: interpolation, extrapolation, and zero estimation.
