曹睿,陕西师范大学教授,应用表面与胶体化学教育部重点实验室副主任。北京大学学士(2003),美国埃默里大学博士(2008),埃默里大学(2008-2009)和麻省理工学院(2009-2011)博士后。2011 年加入中国人民大学,2014 年调入陕西师范大学。主要研究方向为(1)分子催化在能源相关小分子活化中的应用;(2)水分解反应机理研究,氢氢成键和氧氧成键机制研究;(3)面向应用的分子电催化体系构筑。以通讯作者(第一通讯单位)在 Acc. Chem. Res. (1 篇),Chem. Rev. (2 篇),Chem. Soc. Rev. (2 篇),J. Am. Chem. Soc. (2 篇),Angew. Chem. (14 篇),Chem. Sci. (5 篇),ACS Catal. (5 篇) 等期刊发表论文 130 余篇。2011 年入选国家海外高层次人才引进计划,2018 年获得霍英东青年教师基金,2020 年获得国际卟啉与酞菁协会“青年科学家奖”等荣誉。受邀担任 ChemSusChem 编委会主席,Chem. Soc. Rev. 编委和客座编辑,《催化学报》青年编委和客座编辑,《化学快报》和《电化学》编委。


Dr. Rui Cao is a Professor in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shaanxi Normal University. He obtained his Bachelor's degree from Peking University in 2003 and obtained his Ph.D. degree from Emory University in 2008. Dr. Rui Cao did postdoc research works at Emory University with Prof. Craig L. Hill (2008-2009) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology with Prof. Stephen J. Lippard (2009-2011). After that, Dr. Rui Cao joined the Renmin University of China in 2011 and transferred to Shaanxi Normal University in 2014.


Dr. Rui Cao, as the Leading Corresponding Author, has published 125 papers, including those in Angewandte Chemie International Edition (x 14) and Journal of the American Chemical Society (x 2). Recently, Dr. Rui Cao has been invited to contribute an Accounts Article in Accounts of Chemical Research and has been invited to write review articles in Chemical Reviews (x 2) and Chemical Society Reviews (x 2). Dr. Rui Cao has obtained several prestigious awards, including the "Young Investigator Award" from the International Society of Porphyrins & Phthalocyanines (2020), and the "Fok Ying-Tong Education Foundation for Outstanding Young Teachers in University" from the Ministry of Education, China (2018). Dr. Rui Cao has been invited to be the Editorial Board Chair of ChemSusChem (since 2022), has been invited to join the Advisory Board of Chemical Society Reviews (since 2019), and has served as the Guest Editor to organize a Themed Collection Issue, titled as “Small molecule activation, from biocatalysis to artificial catalysis”, in Chemical Society Reviews. In addition, Dr. Rui Cao is also a Board member of the Chinese Journal of Catalysis, Chinese Chemical Letters, and Journal of Electrochemistry.


讲座摘要/Abstract:

水分解析氢析氧和氧还原是催化领域的前沿研究方向,发展性能优异的催化剂是其中的热点和难点。围绕水分解和氧还原反应,曹睿博士以具有明确结构的金属卟啉类配合物为研究对象,结合电化学和化学方法精准合成催化循环中可能的中间体,利用空间位阻等分子设计稳定高活性中间体,实现研究其电子结构和反应性质,并通过分子设计,调控反应路径,达到提高催化效率的目的。沿着“阐明催化机理→调控反应路径→优化分子设计”的研究思路,曹睿博士阐明了多种 H-H 和 O-O 成键/断键过程,尤其证明了金属氢物种双分子均裂 H-H 成键和水亲核进攻锰氧物种 O-O 成键,建立了催化剂电子结构与这些成键过程的关联,发展了多种调控 H-H 和 O-O 成键/断键过程的分子设计策略,并以此为基础设计合成了一系列性能优异的金属卟啉类水分解和氧还原分子催化剂。主要研究成果包括:1) 阐明了三种 H-H 成键机制,调控了 H-H 成键过程,提升了析氢催化效率;2) 阐明了两种 O-O 成键机制,调控了 O-O 成键过程,提升了水氧化催化效率;3) 调控了氧还原的 O-O 断键过程;发展了性能优异的氧还原分子催化体系。


Developing highly efficient catalysts for water splitting and oxygen reduction reaction has attracted increasing attention in the past decades. Dr. Rui Cao focuses on illustrating the reaction mechanisms of water splitting and oxygen reduction and also on developing novel porphyrin-based molecular catalysts for these reactions. By demonstrating several H-H and O-O bond formation/cleavage processes, revealing the crucial effects of the electronic structure and proton transfer on these bond formation/cleavage processes, and by establishing structure-function relationships at the molecular level, in the past five years, Dr. Rui Cao has obtained significant achievements in hydrogen and oxygen evolution and oxygen reduction reactions, including (1) demonstrated three different H-H bond formation mechanisms for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER); developed highly efficient porphyrin-based molecular catalysts with the state-of-the-art performance for HER; (2) disclosed two O-O bond formation mechanisms for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER); rationally designed and developed highly efficient porphyrin-based molecular catalysts for OER; and (3) controlled and improved the O-O bond cleavage for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR); developed porphyrin-based molecular ORR electrocatalysts with promising applications in new energy conversion and storage devices.
